Oak House
Master Suite
The client owned a tranquil frame photo they wished to integrate into their bedroom—a picturesque Chinese Paifang, also known as a Pailou; a traditional architectural archway in Chinese style. This image featured tones of red, white, blue, and black, setting the thematic foundation and colour palette for the room. Our aim was to infuse a strong sense of Zen and tranquillity, but it's worth noting that red and blue can be a challenging interior colour combination, demanding careful consideration.
To address this challenge, we chose a calming soft grey wallpaper, crafted a custom headboard, window treatments, and cushions using an elegant Thibaut red fabric with Oriental influences. Considering the client's habit of working on a laptop while sitting up in bed, we chose a white fabric for the headboard and selected a stain-resistant, wipeable material to ensure durability and ease of maintenance. Additionally, we designed generously sized continental cushions that serve as both backrests and headrests, enhancing comfort and safeguarding the fabric from everyday wear and tear.
In addition to these bedroom enhancements, we also undertook the renovation of the ensuite for this space.
