Katie Longshaw-Pye
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Katie has a unique background which offers a fresh and alternative take on her work in the Interior Design industry. Prior to setting up her studio, Magpye Creative Interiors, Katie worked for over a decade in the creative industry: notably at the world's most luxurious stores Harrods as a Senior Visual Stylist, then as Creative Manager of Selfridges for the whole store. Both prestigious and hard earned positions.
Katie was headhunted by Harrods, and as part of the interiors and world famous windows team was trusted to create schemes and select, style and present home, furniture and fashion for the worlds most luxurious brands to the most discerning clients. Selfridges was the next stage in her career as the Store Creative Manager; overseeing a team and the design of new departments, including a 10m revamp of the beauty and accessory areas. In a highly competitive fast paced industry she was trusted to envision and create high spec magical experiences and displays.

After moving to live in the beautiful Ribble Valley, Lancashire, Katie launched Magpye Creative Interiors; an Interior Design service for homes and businesses. Katie along with her Swiss partner love travelling to absorb the best in art, craft and architecture. She now works from both her Studio in Whalley and in Marbella on projects across Europe.
One of Katie's nicknames among her friends was 'Magpie,' a nod to her keen eye for the dazzling and unusual—a trait that made her a successful stylist. Coupled with her last name 'Pye,' the business name Magpye was simply irresistible.

WHALLEY
We're lucky enough to have the most fabulous view of the Whalley viaduct from the studio. A studio curated with our treasure trove library boasting a rich array of samples – from tiles, fabrics, flooring, wallpapers, surfaces, marble, veneer, paint and many product reference books.
Our shelves hold not just materials, but the keys to transformation – surfaces that beg to be caressed, marble that evokes timeless elegance, veneer that tells tales of craftsmanship, and hues of paint that hold the promise of metamorphosis.
In the realm of ever-evolving interior design, Katie stands as an ardent seeker of innovation. A dedicated pilgrim, she embarks on regular journeys to the heart of design meccas, like London's Chelsea Harbour, where trends are born. With each visit expanding her samples and knowledge.

ALL OVER
We invest vast large amounts of time visiting showrooms and trade shows across the UK and Europe. From Decorex in London, to Maison et Objet n Paris, and visit the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour as often as possible.
We're on a mission to stay on top of ’what’s new’, learn from the industry’s best, to test out and feel ‘the goods’, and to find the best trade suppliers to work with. We’ve then laboriously catalogued the brands and our favourite inspiring products so that these can be presented to Clients.
We love teaming up with other designers and interior lovers for these trips and we have a few articles on our blog documents some of the best bits.

TRADE PARTNERS
OUR EXTENDED TEAM
We work closely with a variety of craftsmen and artisans to design and produce custom unique products for clients; window treatments, accessories, art, furniture, upholstery, metalwork, woodwork, and so on. We often pivot to our little black book when when want something a little different and know just who is right for the job.
We’ve built a strong relationship with select trusted suppliers that we repeatedly use, however invariably with every new project may come a new challenge requiring a new craftsman. Thankfully we are well connected in the industry and often get recommendations fro ogther designers.
These are super talented experts in their field; and we can discuss in detail how (with the right budget) we can get anything we desire made.

favourite Harrods windows
The dream job; a jobs thousands would have snatched my hand off for, and I had landed it! Working at Harrods was certainly eye opening; I was introduced to design, brands and luxury beyond my wildest dreams, and I got to work with the most talented team and designers. The windows team is world renown and Here's a few windows that we designed and installed during my time there. From glamorous homeware, to magical Christmas, to food campaigns we go to be incredibly creative.

OFFICE ASSISTANT
Last but not least, there's this madame. She can usually be found perched atop the soft samples or attempting to sit on the warm laptop. Despite her mischief, the office wouldn't be the same without her.
‘When designing a space, my design philosophy revolves around the art of tension. It is within this harmonious tension that the true essence of the space unfolds, inviting a sense of intrigue and delight in equal measure..’
