Katie Longshaw-Pye
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Katie's unique background brings a fresh, alternative perspective to her work in the Interior Design industry. Before founding her studio, Magpye Creative Interiors, she spent over a decade in the creative industry, including roles as Senior Visual Stylist at Harrods and Creative Manager at Selfridges. Both prestigious roles were hard-earned.
Headhunted by Harrods, Katie worked on the interiors and world-famous windows team, creating schemes and styling luxury home, furniture, and fashion brands for discerning clients. At Selfridges, she managed a team and oversaw major projects, including a £10m revamp of the beauty and accessory departments, consistently delivering high-spec, magical experiences.

After relocating to the picturesque Ribble Valley in Lancashire, Katie founded Magpye Creative, offering bespoke Interior Design services for homes and businesses. Now, managing projects across Europe, she also works from her studio in Marbella; rotating to align her work with European style aesthetics.
Why the name?
Her friends nicknamed her "Magpie" due to her keen eye for the dazzling and unusual—a trait that contributed to her success as a stylist. Combined with her surname, "Pye," the name Magpye for her business was an irresistible choice.
'I believe that effective design has the ability to enrich lives, boost wellbeing, and drive business success.'

OUR EXTENDED TEAM
The Ribble Valley in the North of England is our original Studio space, and we're lucky enough to enjoy this incredible view from the windows.
The British interior design scene is known for its rich history, eclectic influences, and balance of tradition and innovation. It blends classic British style with contemporary trends, creating sophisticated yet functional interiors. British design is also eclectic, mixing antique and modern furnishings, bold prints, and minimalist decor to allow personal expression. The country house aesthetic, with exposed beams and rustic wood, remains influential, while urban designs, favour sleek, modern elements and industrial materials. Overall, British interior design offers a versatile approach that reflects its cultural heritage while embracing modern trends.
Working from a Studio in Marbella offers vibrant fresh perspective on our work.
The interior design scene in Marbella is a blend of luxury, sophistication, and Mediterranean charm, reflecting the region's status as a glamorous coastal destination. Key influences include Mediterranean style, characterised by natural materials like wood, stone, and terracotta, with light, airy spaces that create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Modern elegance, with its sleek lines, polished finishes, and statement pieces, exudes opulence, while the boho chic trend offers a relaxed yet stylish vibe through vibrant textiles and eclectic furnishings. Spanish and Andalusian craftsmanship adds cultural depth through traditional tiles, wrought iron, and artisanal decor.
We work on bespoke projects, offering a unique fusion of glamour, comfort, and Mediterranean beauty.

ALL OVER
We invest vast large amounts of time visiting showrooms and trade shows across the UK and Europe. From Decorex in London, to Maison et Objet n Paris, and visit the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour as often as possible.
We're on a mission to stay on top of ’what’s new’, learn from the industry’s best, to test out and feel ‘the goods’, and to find the best trade suppliers to work with. We’ve then laboriously catalogued the brands and our favourite inspiring products so that these can be presented to Clients.
We love teaming up with other designers and interior lovers for these trips and we have a few articles on our blog documents some of the best bits.

TRADE PARTNERS
OUR EXTENDED TEAM
We work closely with a variety of craftsmen and artisans to design and produce custom unique products for clients; window treatments, accessories, art, furniture, upholstery, metalwork, woodwork, and so on. We often pivot to our little black book when when want something a little different and know just who is right for the job.
We’ve built a strong relationship with select trusted suppliers that we repeatedly use, however invariably with every new project may come a new challenge requiring a new craftsman. Thankfully we are well connected in the industry and often get recommendations fro ogther designers.
These are super talented experts in their field; and we can discuss in detail how (with the right budget) we can get anything we desire made.
‘When designing a space, my design philosophy revolves around the art of tension. It is within this harmonious tension that the true essence of the space unfolds, inviting a sense of intrigue and delight in equal measure...’

OFFICE ASSISTANT
Last but not least, there's this madame. She can usually be found perched atop the soft samples or attempting to sit on the warm laptop. Despite her mischief, the office wouldn't be the same without her.
