15 Interior Styles We Love: The Magpye Creative Style Edit

Every home has a story, and the right interior style is how you tell it. Over the years I've designed in many different looks, and while no two projects are ever the same, there are certain styles I return to again and again: the ones that feel timeless, liveable and right for the light and lifestyle we enjoy here on the Costa del Sol.

I recently shared these as a series on Instagram, and so many of you saved them that I wanted to bring them together in one place. Here are the 15 interior styles we love designing most, grouped into four families. Scroll through, notice which ones make you stop, and you'll be one step closer to knowing what feels like home.

1. Relaxed Coastal

Light-filled spaces, natural textures and effortless living. These styles take their cue from the coast without ever tipping into themed or 'beachy'. Think sun, salt air and a slower pace, translated into calm, elevated interiors.

California Coastal: Contemporary / Relaxed Luxury

California Coastal contemporary interior with warm whites, linen, rattan and timber

Light-filled, indoor–outdoor living built on warm whites, linen, rattan and natural timber. It's relaxed but always elevated: generous sofas, stone fireplaces and artwork with space to breathe. Perfect for villas where the terrace matters as much as the living room.

California Coastal: Eclectic / Lived-In

Eclectic California Coastal interior layered with vintage finds and artwork

Layered, sun-washed and deeply personal. Vintage finds, well-loved rugs, artwork and natural textures come together so the home feels collected over years rather than bought in a weekend. Ideal if you love the stories behind your pieces.

Modern Coastal / Soft Scandinavian Contemporary

Modern coastal Scandinavian interior with soft whites and clean lines

Airy coastal calm meets Scandinavian simplicity: soft whites, pale woods, natural textures and clean lines. Never overtly beachy, it's a beautifully pared-back look for apartments and holiday homes that need to feel serene and easy to live in.

Coastal Contemporary with Modern Farmhouse

Coastal contemporary interior with modern farmhouse panelling and timber

Fresh coastal light meets farmhouse warmth through panelling, timber and tactile finishes. Polished, but never precious, this is a wonderful style for family homes and kitchens that are lived in from breakfast to late supper.

2. Classic & Collected

Classic European proportions, craftsmanship and quiet luxury, brought up to date. These are the styles for clients who love architectural detail and timeless materials, but want a home that feels calm and contemporary rather than formal.

Contemporary Classic · Organic European

Organic European contemporary classic interior with plaster, stone and warm timber

Classic European proportions meet a calm, contemporary approach. Plaster walls, natural stone and warm timber set the tone, with every piece chosen for quality over quantity. It's quiet luxury in its purest form.

Modern European Classic / Contemporary Classic

Modern European classic interior with panelling and cornicing

Panelling, cornicing and fine craftsmanship seen through a modern lens. The architecture does the talking; the furnishings are composed, tailored and quietly luxurious. Lovely in townhouses and apartments with good ceiling heights.

Warm Transitional / Modern Traditional (Lifestyle-led)

Warm transitional interior with creamy neutrals and plush textiles

Classic foundations with a fresh, family-friendly warmth. Creamy neutrals, plush textiles and comfortable, generous furniture make this everyday luxury: beautiful to look at, and designed for real life.

Modern Transitional / Soft European Classic

Soft European classic interior with clean lines, plaster, stone and linen

European heritage, pared back. Clean lines and soft curves sit alongside plaster, stone and linen for a look that is elegant and restful, bridging the traditional and the modern with ease.

3. Mediterranean Soul

Plaster, arches, stone and sunlight. Closest to my heart, and to the homes around us in southern Spain, these styles celebrate Mediterranean architecture in all its forms, from the calm and minimal to the richly crafted.

Contemporary Californian / Mediterranean

Contemporary Californian Mediterranean interior with plaster, arches and stone

Californian ease with Mediterranean warmth. Plastered walls, gentle arches, natural stone and a sun-washed palette create interiors that feel relaxed and grounded, a natural fit for modern villas along the coast.

Minimal Mediterranean

Minimal Mediterranean interior with plastered walls and gentle arches

Plastered walls, gentle arches and a restrained, sun-washed palette. Calm, uncluttered and warm, it proves that minimalism doesn't have to feel cold; the texture of the materials brings all the soul you need.

Modern Mediterranean

Modern Mediterranean interior with timber beams, soft arches and patterned tiles

Timber beams, soft arches and patterned tiles, with a fresh, modern feel. Traditional elements are kept and celebrated, then paired with contemporary furniture and lighting for the best of both worlds.

Andalusian

Andalusian interior with arches, hand-painted tiles and terracotta

Rooted in southern Spain: arches, hand-painted tiles, terracotta, wrought iron and craftsmanship with real soul. If you're lucky enough to own an older Andalusian property, this is the style that honours it. You can read more in my post on why original Andalusian features deserve better than the skip.

4. Palm Beach & Art-Led

Colour, pattern and personality. For those who want their home to feel joyful and a little glamorous, or who love living with art, these styles bring confidence and character.

Palm Beach Coastal (Playful / Decorative)

Playful Palm Beach coastal interior with corals, blues, rattan and stripes

Bright, joyful and full of pattern. Corals, blues and greens mix with rattan, stripes and statement art for a home that feels like a permanent holiday. Wonderful for guest suites, garden rooms and anywhere you want a smile.

Palm Beach Regency

Palm Beach Regency interior with tailored curves and fresh colour

Regency elegance with coastal ease. Tailored curves, fresh colour and painted or lacquered finishes give this look a refined holiday spirit: glamorous, but never stuffy.

Poetic Transitional · Art-Led Contemporary

Art-led contemporary interior layered with sculpture and vintage pieces

Strong architectural bones layered with art, sculpture and vintage. Collected, personal and timeless, this style is built around the pieces you love, with the interior designed to frame them.

Finding your style

Most of the homes we design don't fit neatly into one box, and they shouldn't. A Minimal Mediterranean shell might be layered with Palm Beach colour in a guest room; an Organic European living space might open onto a California Coastal terrace. The styles above are a starting point, not a rulebook.

If a few of them caught your eye, save this post and note down what draws you in: the colours, the materials, the mood. It's one of the most useful things you can bring to a first conversation with your designer.
