MEADOWCROFT HOUSE

Meadowcroft House’s living room was reimagined as a cosy, atmospheric retreat, bringing together the warmth of a country home with the eclectic sophistication of a private members’ club.

The client’s much-loved curved sofa was an important starting point. Its sweeping silhouette, olive velvet upholstery and sculptural, cocooning shape bring a subtle mid-century glamour, setting the tone for a scheme of smoky blue walls, rich timber and warm brass.

One of the most meaningful details emerged through getting to know the client. During our conversations, she mentioned artwork created by her mother that she longed to enjoy but had kept tucked away in a drawer. We had the collection framed and arranged across the wall behind the sofa, giving these deeply personal pieces a prominent place in her everyday life.

Overhead, we stripped the painted beams back to their original timber and added wood between them, creating a beautifully textured ceiling that brings warmth and character. New timber flooring with underfloor heating allowed us to remove the radiators, while the traditional fireplace gave way to a contemporary metal-clad media unit with an integrated fire and softly illuminated display shelving.

Layered lighting, patterned textiles and a rich mix of materials complete a room with a relaxed, Soho Home-inspired sensibility: intimate, inviting and full of personality.
