FELL VIEW
The starting point for Chapel Laith’s living room was a cherished piece of the clients’ artwork, depicting a favourite spot from their honeymoon. Positioned above the sofa, the painting became the central focus and inspiration for the room’s palette, with its colours carried through the mustard-yellow seating, soft blue curtains and patterned textiles.
Warm white tongue-and-groove panelling and natural oak parquet create a calm backdrop, allowing the colour and pattern to shine. Textured upholstery, brass lighting and an orange console add further interest, while greenery and layered lighting soften the space.
The room’s long, narrow proportions and numerous windows presented a particular challenge: where to position the television without compromising the layout. We removed the old fireplace and designed a much lower, contemporary tiled replacement, allowing the television to sit centrally above it at a more comfortable viewing height. Although this would not usually be our preferred position for a television, it provided a considered solution for this room. We chose a picture TV that displays artwork when not in use, helping it sit comfortably within the scheme.
