Bathroom
This windowless family bathroom room presented a design challenge, as it lacked natural light, making it essential to create a space that feels light, airy, and inviting. To achieve this, I carefully selected a neutral palette of whites, greys, and taupes, which not only brightens the room but also creates a serene and timeless atmosphere. These subtle hues work harmoniously to reflect light and enhance the room's sense of openness, ensuring the space feels far from confined.
To introduce a touch of drama and sophistication, I opted for a striking book-matched marble feature wall. The natural veining in the marble creates a captivating visual effect, adding depth and elegance to the room. This luxurious material serves as a stunning focal point, drawing the eye and anchoring the design. Complementing the marble, I chose beautiful patterned tiles that bring texture and interest, infusing the space with a sense of artistry and craftsmanship.
A custom double vanity was designed specifically for this room, tailored to maximise both style and functionality. Its sleek design aligns with the overall aesthetic, while providing ample storage and surface area.
To further enhance the luxurious feel, I incorporated brass hardware throughout the room. The warm, golden tones of the brass introduce a touch of opulence, contrasting beautifully with the cool neutrals and adding a layer of richness. These carefully selected fixtures provide a subtle yet impactful way to tie the room together, ensuring every detail contributes to the overall sense of elegance and refinement.
Before
Featherstone Hall is a Georgian property based in Yorkshire, and was already undergoing a major renovation when I was brought onboard to redesign the whole home. The historic property was being gutted.... a little too radically and I arrived just in time to halt some of the skip enthusiasm. The designer is the first person you should hire on any project so we can ensure that all renovation decisions are well considered. Read our blog on the subject.
